The immaturity of both the performers and the material make for an uncomfortably awkward performance. Furthermore, through a combination of historical inaccuracy, cultural ignorance and homogeneity of the cast, the show often dips into unintentional racism. And why were the scenes pictured in the promo material nowhere to be seen in the show? I am not a fan of musicals, but I enjoyed this one because the concept is hilarious and the writers really took some risks with the material. Nice book and music. Wonderful performances. Some of the lines caught me by surprise and made me laugh after I processed what had happened. Killer lines such as "look Calvin Coolidge in blackface right there in the oval office", and material about child marriage and animal cruelty made me want more biting commentary. I became impatient with the footage shown in the middle of the show (I wanted more live singing), was a bit confused at the ending which paid homage to the paradoxes and paradigm of time travel, but overall I felt it was great fringe show. I'd see it again.... full review
