My overall impression
To be sure, Frank Blocker’s deft embodiment of his play’s many, many memorable characters is a jaw-dropping achievement. Vocally and physically, each character is unique, tenderly but unsparingly observed from life.
But what makes the work really satisfying is that, within minutes, the actor’s coup ceases to be the focus of attention. This play is not a gimmick; it is, like all good theater, a fully compelling story.
I’m glad I took the opportunity to see this warmly human, yet wickedly funny play!
