A unique and fresh approach to a tried and true story. We all know the pains and pressures of trying to make it in the City of Angels, but how are these changed when viewed against the backdrop of the digital age? Social networking, Larry the Twitter bird and, of course, Hashtags are back and center for most of this show and they are used to great effect as a narrative device as well as a design element. Part drama, part movement piece, part comedy, with a touch of the musical, this blend of genres is entertaining and alive. Good use of space, great acting, and smart directing insure there is something for everyone... even the flip-phone-carrying internet illiterati among us....

#Hashtag is a fun and enjoyable piece of theatre that is more about moving to LA and adjusting to it's hectic lifestyle than it is about social media. The cast is enjoyable, but they never really stop being themselves, which make for only average performances, and a lot of times they feel a bit underused. The script, co-written by the cast is great for a fringe festival type setting, but if this piece were extended into a full run, it might need some more work - like I said, I'd love to see the ensemble fully used. Props to the entire team for creating an enjoyable, lighthearted evening of theatre. ...

This is an amusing story with a really likable cast, and the most on the nose of the "life in LA" shows I've seen [at least until the struggling actor- spoiler alert- books a pilot]. Interestingly, social media is a backdrop for but not really the focus of this production. This show is what the "like" button was made for- it's not stellar, but it's entertaining. fringeblog.webs.com

A timely topic, sharp writing, and a superb cast make #Hashtag one of this year's Fringe must-see shows. It's a well-executed piece full of great performances. Keep an eye out for subtle yet wonderful physical flourishes in Spencer Howard's and Nathan Turner's performances.
It's amazing how much the show packs into 50 minutes. It never feels overwhelming, however, thanks to effective use of projections, slick directing, and the great chemistry of the ensemble cast. The projections are notably well-utilized--sometimes guiding the audience, sometimes being in the forefront of the action.
What's particularly great about #Hashtag is how effectively it captures the multiple ways in which people interact with social media. I'm sure that...

#HASHTAG is a funny, charming, and well done ensemble piece about social media. Definitely a good way to spend an hour - it really moves along. The company finds clever ways to incorporate media into the production - but I wish they could find a way to get the projections higher up on the back wall, it was often hard to read the bottom lines around the actors......

Fabulous! This was a well executed commentary about social media that was active, funny, and important. Despite the freedom to tweet I found myself too involved with the story to pick up my phone. I highly recommend seeing this show. ...

There is a lot of good theatre out there, but #Hashtag is great. The production does such a hilarious job of "holding up the mirror" at behaviors I see, suffer from, and am guilty of, all over the world. Sometimes sad, but always funny. I'm not sure I can call it a satire because so many of even the funniest moments obviously have a basis in reality. Truly an ensemble piece, the director and all of the actors share co-writing credits, so each of the individuals have the opportunities to be who they choose to be and share what they choose to share. Stand-out performances by Spencer and Brian, the two of them on stage together are some of my favorite, most honest parts of the production. If you get the chance, get over there!...

My husband and I had the pleasure of both seeing and experiencing multi dimensional production of #Hashtag. The original opening song set the stage for what is realistically becoming a real issue in the world today. The message of this play speak clearly off today and tomorrow's world of Electronix and how even humans might have a small place in it. A must see play with praise is well deserved!
