I wanted to see Hashtag from the moment I first saw their logo, which so beautifully depicted the message of the show - that social media can imprison us. My favorite moment of the show was when that message was made physical onstage.
Their reference to Brecht ("yeccch," I believe they described it) was clever, especially considering that each scene was prefaced with a hash tag describing (or titling) what followed. It smacked of the distancing/alienation effects of which Brecht was so fond. As did the social media interaction component, which was very interesting to me. This is a VERY fun piece.
I would introduce this to new comedic acting students much in the way that I was first introduced to David Ives.
Totally fun. Totally relevant. I definitely recommend it!...

Amazing. I was so impressed by the creativity and effectiveness of what they created. The acting was superb, and the content of the piece was delivered through direction in a very out-of-the-box way. They took a lot of risks, and I believe every single one paid off. Great show, very entertaining, the hour flew by!...

An apt and sometimes frightening portrayal of how we've invited technology to play a leading role in our lives. Clever, yes, but also cautionary. The request to live-tweet, vine or post about the show (during the show) only helped to reinforce our generations' addiction. Loved the choice to have actors onstage sullenly lost in their phones when not part of the central action. Solid cast with a particularly adept performance from Nathan Turner as the agent you-love-to-hate. Interesting direction and writing, making this one definitely worth the watch. ...

Have you ever seen a show that perfectly captures the ridiculous current #trends with aplomb? I have. It is called #hashtag. The cast aptly delivers the humor of this satire without being sarcastic. The play openly encourages electronic devices and wants you to tweet pictures or take Vine vids of the performance. I had too much fun. Parts of it dragged a bit, but the phenomenal cast overpowered the moments of lag with their tour de force performances. #lovedit....

Really enjoyed the this play, found myself missing some of the characters by the time I got home. I also really enjoyed the ability to interact with the characters over social media during the performance. I want more!! ...

Loved the acting and the writing, this was a very well written play with a great look at how society as a whole is now. The opening song was awesome. Great cast especially the guy who worked at the "Hollywood video." I would suggest this play to anyone who likes to laugh out loud!...
