This is a hilarious little show! I thought the comedic timing was perfect and especially loved the fact that all the actors played numerous characters which they pulled off with ease and speed. Highly recommended if you love Shakespeare and like poking fun at him!...

When the curtain call came and I caught my breath, I thought "where are
all the other actors?". This troupe is gifted. They each create many different and very funny characters. They handle the language with
aplomb. It was hysterically funny and wonderfully directed. Thank you to everyone involved for an amazing theatrical experience. Don't miss it....

A wonderfully engaging mash-up of Shakespeare characters by an accomplished and entertaining ensemble of performers. It had a definite ensemble feel to the evening - continuity of style and intent on telling the story first and foremost. Kudos to the cast and the production staff/director. This was the highlight for me of the Fringe, at least so far!...

This show deserves to be a contender for best of Fringe! The ensemble of King Phycus gives its audience a raucous, silly, unabashedly iambic time. This show will please both the hardcore Shakespeare-quothing dork and the unassuming groundling. If you only see one more show at the festival, make it King Phycus! ...

How often do you go to the theatre and look forward to every player? Each one of the Phycus troupe has moments of comic genius/madness - in the bigger roles and the the small - in some cases especially the small - the actors take risks that pay off - we start laughing as they come onstage. Much of the humor of course comes from the devices of the script - the weeping eye, the macbeths playing golf, releasing the dogs of war (woof), Juliet's portable balcony, and her star crossed bulimia. But surprising in an enterprise such as this, is the fact that the play does not unravel, but goes to an extremely Shakespean ending with a nice twist.
Johan Apicella keeps everyone moving apace and has made the most of the space and his actors. See...

A brilliantly executed literary gut-buster that takes you on a highly irreverent romp through the Folios. The script is clever, the cast's comic timing is flawless and the show itself is perfectly produced for the Fringe. Catch it as a part of this year's Best Of. You'll regret it if you don't. ...

Hilarious and SO well-written! I hope I can go back during Fringe - because there's so much going on and being said, no one could possibly catch it all the first time. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. GO!...

Oh my god, so funny! Whether, like me, you're a Shakespeare buff or, like my boyfriend, Shakespeare isn't really your thing, you will heartily enjoy this play. My boyfriend usually can barely understand Elizabethan language, but he laughed throughout the entire performance! And the cast is incredibly talented. Forget double casting; this play has gotta be quadruple cast, and each character was totally unique and fully fleshed out, complete with very different accents. Such a good show. I highly recommend it!!...

Bad costumes, hammy actors, rotten stage combat, ridiculous death scenes, a romantic leading man who obviously bats for the other team...Sound rotten? Not when it's done on purpose!
King Phycus is a hilarious satire on all the things we've come to hate about poorly done productions of Shakespeare. Take a group of seasoned classical actors who obviously know their stuff, and let them go to town chewing up the scenery. Watch as they mix the complex plot lines of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies into an exceptionally humorous one act comedy. Recommended!...

A funny show with a clever premise and a good cast. Drew Doyle had a wickedly well-timed delivery, and Jason Thomas was hilarious with his quick changes between Romeo and Hamlet.
Sometimes I have trouble sitting still for two hours, and I don't think I am alone in this. Wasn't a problem for King Phycus. No "shifting in the seats" for the show either. The audience was into it the whole time.
Highly recommended!...
