I appreciate very much the all the work that was put into producing original written material by local writers. It's nice to see the passion people have for theatre in a town like L.A, that mainly revolves around movies. I loved the array of different characters that were all very comical, yet sad, awkward, and yet I found a tender spot in my heart for the humanity in saw in them in the midst of all the craziness and comedy. My personal favorite was Jerry Chappell as Jesus, genius. Also I enjoyed seeing Sara Davenport as the christian wife choking her husband to death with a cheeseburger after stabbing him a little bit. All the shows were hilarious and all the characters unexpected and fresh freaks of nature, just the way I like them. Keep u... full review

While my overall experience with "...........Awkward Pauses" was an enjoyable one, I found it to be a one hill roller coaster. Let's back up. "...Awkward Pauses" is broken into 3 one acts. ACT I TEN MINUTES TO GO We begin with a look at a futuristic Dr. Kevorkian inspired roller coaster (purely coincidental to my analogy) where riders, aside from the terminally ill and those on death row, can choose to terminate their lives early. They are expertly crafted to be the Ying to other's Yang. Between spurts of banter, the awkward pauses... full review

I thought the 3ofaKind Theatre company did a fantastic job with "Awkward Pauses." The writing, directing, and acting was outstanding; Jerry Chappell and Mindy Warick were magnificent. With such a serious topic, there was possibility it could be a very depressing tone overall. But wasn't the case at all here. The whole piece did a wonderful job of balancing the difficult of such a gripping and odd subject of suicide; keeping the story alive and fresh, playing both the comedy and devastation. I also loved the innovative set design of "Ten Minutes to Go." I absolutely loved "Ducks in Winter" with Susan Marlowe and Tony Christopher. What a pair!! They were crisp, fun, and full of light. Those two work beautifully together, they brought out such... full review

Enjoyed the 3 one-acts, but connected much more to the first than the others. A great concept, with 3 very different visions. Naturally when one is presented with 3 choices, one can tend to veer slightly more in favor of one versus another, as in my case. I also enjoyed the dynamic between the married couple in the second piece. ... full review

Solid performances from the cast. The material involved three very interesting (for completely different reasons) situations, but although I certainly enjoyed all three pieces I cannot say that I "loved" them. The second was probably the most successful blend of comedy and drama.... full review
