A show built for the Fringe. It's fun, and worth seeing just for Laura Sperrazza. All of the faults this play has, and there aren't many, are all covered up by the inventive script. Best of the Fringe. Really. Go see this amazing, funny, touching, beautiful piece of theater. So so good. Great even. This is great theater. This is a wonderful new play. I have seen A LOT of shows this Fringe and most a pretty terrible, but this is a real play with real characters who learn and grow and we feel for them. Peppur Chambers is a great writer and she shows off with this piece. The acting is overall pretty wonderful, especially Nicole Adelman and Michael Hampton who play the leads Jayne and Dick. OK. This show is wildly uneven. Some of the acting is below average, a couple are fine. One (Raissa Eckmann Peniche) is wonderful. The actors are Brazilian and doing the play in English is obviously difficult for some, so I'm giving them some slack on performance. The show feels like it's trying to shock rather than trying to tell the story honestly. This is a smart show. It's brilliantly framed and all of the actors are on stage the whole time, when they're not being used, they're lined up against the back wall plugged into their phones. Except for the one character who only has a flip phone and doesn't know what a hashtag or instagram or twitter is. In fact, for most of the play he's in the back with the others, except he's reading a book. Compelling, well acted, well designed, well thought out piece of theater. It gets better the longer it goes on. There is a moment where three things are going on at once, and each is terribly interesting and you have to divide your attention, and it's amazing. I have a few complaints, but it's mostly just my tastes, I wish the play had gone further. This is a show that you'd expect to see in a theater writing class in high school. The writing is unimaginative, the direction steers away from the drama and anything that may have been compelling in the tired script and the acting is over the top and unbelievable. The trifecta.... full review

Best show of the Fringe. No contest. Go see this show. It will make you want to get up and DO SOMETHING. It will make you want to create or live or take a chance, to break out of the bubble you currently live in. And a great show, that is expertly written, acted, designed and directed that also makes you want to change your life is kind of the best thing you can hope for when going to see a play.... full review

Ryan really is lost. So are the two stars of this show. Completely and utterly lost. And they have no hope of getting found. In fact I suspect they have no interest in being found or saved. It's difficult to tell what is real and what isn't in this hyperreal absurdist new work.
